What Would The World Look Like With Just 100 People?

Now that it's election year, we're hearing a lot about the top 1% and many other statistics that kind of just get lost in the static.  Because really, what does it all mean when we're talking about 7 BILLION people?  

It's easy to get lost in the sauce about how insignificant it all really seems.  Now that you're all bummed out, which you shouldn't be because you're 1 of 7 billion which makes you one of a pretty awesome kind, let's break it down.

According to 100people.org, if there were only 100 people on the planet:

There would be 50 Males and 50 Females

26 would be children, 74 adults, 8 people who are 65 and older

60 Asians, 15 Africans, 14 People from North and South America, and 11 Europeans

33 Christians, 22 Muslims, 14 Hindus, 7 Buddhists, 12 "Other," and 12 Non-Denominational

12 Chinese Speaking, 5 Spanish Speaking, 5 English Speaking, 3 Arabic Speaking, 3 Hindi Speaking, 3 Bengali Speaking, 3 Portuguese Speaking, 2 Russian Speaking, 2 Japanese Speaking, 62 Would Speak Other Languages

83 People could read and write while 17 would be considered illiterate

7 Would Have a College Degree

22 Would Own or Share a Computer

77 People would have shelter, 23 would not

1 Would be dying of Starvation

15 Would be Undernourished

21 Would be Overweight

87 People would have access to safe drinking water while 13 people would not

    This is very interesting and makes you think a lot! As of right now living in this world is about the struggle, surviving, and success! So with all these people you may not see clearly how things are shown with all these categories! As it is we have to fight for equality, because some things are separated or get judge by, either from race/ ethnicity, gender, rich or poor, etc. Let alone if there would only be 100 people gosh, you would have to fight harder for equality!

    That’s an interesting way to look at the world. With 7 billion people, is easier to ignore all the disparity because we don’t see it clearly. The video questions in the end: “Would we fight harder for equality?”. I think so, because we would probably know millionaires and homeless, even they would know each other, so the truth would be harder to swallow.
